Taking it down to the frame...

Well here is Travis now!  Yep, slaving away.  We have removed the cab, transmission, box, fenders, hood, etc off of the frame and are now working on getting everything cleaned up and ready for some rust prevention.  We chose to use the POR-15 line of products since I was somewhat familiar with the application on a 1982 CJ-8 Scrambler restoration that my father and I had done several years earlier.

At this point we have sprayed the entire frame assembly down with Marine Clean by POR-15 and are pressure washing the years of accumulated grease, grime and gross stuff.  Travis complains that he is the one doing all of the work, but someone has to take the pictures right?!  Don't be fooled though, we both spent plenty of time scraping, scrubbing and pressure washing everything away.

As you will notice too, we have put new tires and wheels on the chassis in order to be able to roll it around.  They are a much nicer fit and look than the old Toyota wheels and flattened tires that were on the truck when we towed it into town.

Information on the POR-15 line of products can be found here:  http://www.por15.com
